Meet Flash!

This handsome and sweet soul was found starving on the streets. He was taken to a local shelter, then CARE was contacted. We took him in, got him through a respiratory infection, garbage gut (had eaten whatever he could find), and have been putting weight on him. Flash will likely be about 85 lbs. when he's gained enough weight.

Flash has been reactive to other dogs. We don't have a way to properly cat test him. We think it's best to find him a home as the only pet. He has been very sweet and gentle with kids 14 and up. We have not tested him with younger children, but suspect he will be fine with them. He's very loving and stands up to give hugs.

Flash has an old injury to a front leg. Vet suspects he may have been hit by a car at some point, but didn't receive proper medical care so his bones fused as they were. There's nothing to do for it now.

Flash is heartworm positive, but doesn't have heartworm disease. He will stay on heartworm prevention (same as you would with any dog) until the adult worms die off. This will be provided by CARE for a year (at which point he should be negative at his annual check-up). All basic vetting has been done, he has recent bloodwork, chest x-ray, abdominal x-ray, and a x-ray of his leg. Vet said he looks good.

Flash will be neutered 11/14/22. He can go to his forever family after that. Apply today!

A completed adoption application and home visit are required for approval to adopt a CARE dog. Out of state adoptions okay. All dogs receive a distemper/parvovirus vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, flea & tick prevention and treatment if needed, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.
